TIME ALONE
Some of us need time alone.
It’s not because we don’t enjoy being around people. It’s because we feel deeply, and after taking on too much emotional stimulation, our minds and bodies need time to reset.
Sometimes we become quiet.
Sometimes we withdraw.
Sometimes we simply need stillness.
The challenge is that this is often misunderstood. Our need for space can be mistaken for distance, disinterest or even arrogance. But the truth is usually very different.
Most of the time, we’re not pulling away from others—we’re simply finding our way back to ourselves.
When we’ve taken on too much, even the smallest interactions can feel overwhelming. A simple conversation can require more energy than we have to give. Noise, busyness and emotional intensity can leave us feeling completely drained.
So if we disappear for a while, please don’t assume it’s about you.
We’re simply taking the time we need to fill our own MUG first, so we can return with the kindness, presence and genuine connection we love to share.
We all recharge differently.
Some refill their MUG in a crowd.
Others refill it in the quiet.
Neither is wrong.
Last night brought this feeling into focus.
I spent a beautiful afternoon and evening dancing, laughing, and reconnecting with friends. When it was time to leave, I returned home to Missy—for cuddles, her dinner, a walk, and the peaceful comfort of my little sanctuary.
I truly enjoy being out and social.
And I just as deeply cherish coming home.
For me, it isn’t about choosing one over the other—it’s about embracing both.
This is how I honour my own rhythm and FILL MY MUG
