REFRAME IT
Following on from my IT’S TIME blog, here’s a simple concept that can help us navigate change a little more easily.
Whether it’s…
A missed job opportunity.
A home you wanted to buy or rent.
A relationship changing or ending.
An invitation — or a non-invitation.
Something you really wanted that simply didn’t happen.
What if, instead of seeing it as rejection, we reframed it as redirection?
What if we trusted that sometimes the thing that didn’t happen simply wasn’t the thing meant for us?
I remember using this exact mindset when I was purchasing an apartment in Broadbeach. I’d paid the deposit and everything was moving ahead when, at the very last minute, my bank realised they didn’t offer loans for that particular type of complex.
Their mistake — and initially, a huge spanner in the works!
But instead of getting upset, I remember thinking, God is delaying me for a reason. There must be something more suitable coming.
And strangely, I became excited!
Literally a week later, the perfect apartment came onto the market in Mermaid Beach. I was ready to move immediately and, because the owner needed an urgent sale, I even bought it for $10,000 less than the asking price.
Now THAT was redirection!
Sometimes we can’t see why something hasn’t worked out while we’re standing in the middle of it.
But when we reframe it, we leave room for the possibility that something different — and perhaps something far more suitable — is finding its way to us.
So next time something doesn’t go quite the way you hoped…
Don’t call it rejection.
Call it redirection.
Trust the process. Trust the timing. And trust that sometimes a closed door is simply pointing you towards the right one.
