BEHIND THE SMILES...

Just because someone smiles… doesn’t mean life has been or is, easy.
Every day in clinic I’m reminded how much courage people carry behind closed doors.
Illness.
Grief.
Exhaustion.
Caring for loved ones.
Financial pressure.
Broken relationships.
Fear of what tomorrow might bring.
Most of it is invisible.
I have no doubt that sometimes people must look at my page and only see the beach walks, sunrises, coffee, dancing and laughter.
What they don’t see are the stories I have the privilege of witnessing every week… or all the times I come home with a heavy heart.
Those sunrises and sunsets aren’t an escape from reality.
They’re how I stay strong enough to keep walking back into it each day.
I’ve learnt that taking time in nature…
moving my body…
eating well…
laughing with friends…
resting…
and protecting my own wellbeing…
isn’t selfish.
It’s absolutely necessary and essential.
So if anyone has ever made you feel guilty for looking after yourself…
please don’t.
The stronger and healthier you are, the more love, hope and strength you have to give to everyone around you.
Take your walk.
Have your coffee.
Watch the sunrises and sunsets.
Dance.
Laugh.
Rest.
Not because life is easy…
but because sometimes that’s exactly what helps us face the parts that aren’t.
If these words touched your heart, please consider sharing them. You never know who might be carrying more than they let the world see, and today, they may need this gentle reminder that looking after themselves isn’t selfish… it’s essential.
